Zamil Steel Buildings India Pvt Ltd Partners with Trimble to Transform Steel Fabrication Around the World
Global construction technology leader Trimble has partnered with Zamil Steel to deploy Tekla PowerFab across its manufacturing facilities in India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Vietnam, helping streamline steel fabrication workflows and accelerate digital transformation initiatives.

Global construction technology leader Trimble (Nasdaq: TRMB) announced that Zamil Steel, a global leader in engineering and manufacturing of high-quality steel products and the Middle East’s premier supplier of pre-engineered steel buildings and structural steel products, has selected its software solutions, including Tekla PowerFab, to transform steel fabrication operations across its factories in India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Vietnam.
Headquartered in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Zamil Steel operates a group of manufacturing, fabrication, and construction companies worldwide. The company is also the largest manufacturer and supplier of pre-engineered buildings across Asia, Africa, and Europe, with a total production capacity exceeding 10 million square meters annually.
In India, Zamil Steel Buildings India Pvt. Ltd. operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon MIDC-Shirur near Pune, Maharashtra. The facility spans 87,000 square meters, complemented by 3,500 square meters of corporate and engineering office space located in Kharadi, Pune.
Zamil Steel has been among the early adopters of steel construction technology across its global operations. The company has deployed Tekla PowerFab to streamline fabrication workflows by leveraging the software’s advanced communication and collaboration capabilities.
“We welcome Trimble as our technology partner and look forward to their support as we undertake an ambitious digitalization program to serve our customers with better quality products and faster turnaround times. We chose Trimble’s Tekla PowerFab for its industry-leading capabilities and comprehensive applications that dovetailed perfectly with our requirements at every step of our digitalization journey,” said Vasudev Rao, Director-Engineering, Zamil Steel Buildings India Pvt. Ltd.
Over the years, Zamil Steel has utilized Trimble’s technology across numerous marquee projects worldwide, including production facilities for pharmaceutical and automobile sectors, indoor stadiums for educational institutions, coal sheds for the cement industry, aviation hangars, warehouses, and several other infrastructure projects.
The scale of these projects has ranged from 2,500 metric tons to 12,000 metric tons, with project values between USD 4 million and USD 20 million. Execution timelines were tightly scheduled, spanning from six to fifteen months.
Major project challenges included precision design and detailing of complex structures and connections, logistics management due to component size restrictions, and ensuring erection feasibility at project sites.
By utilizing Trimble’s solutions, Zamil Steel achieved smooth and seamless fabrication processes with minimal material wastage while maintaining real-time visibility across operations, including on mobile devices.
This enhanced visibility and workflow management helped significantly reduce material wastage and overall project costs.
Tekla PowerFab’s streamlined fabrication workflow and collaborative capabilities further improved operational efficiency, enabling projects to be completed ahead of schedule without disruptions.
“We are proud to be associated with Zamil Steel as their technology partner as they undertake the digital transformation journey in steel fabrication and PEB construction. We are also thrilled to note that Tekla has already been instrumental in driving their digitalization across projects. This partnership underlines the trust that we have built with our customers in Asia over the past decade, and we are confident that with our new subscription offering, more companies will be able to leverage the power of technology and build more efficient construction processes,” said Paul Wallett, Regional Director, Middle East and India, Trimble Solutions.
Tekla PowerFab was specifically designed for the steel industry to streamline fabrication workflows and provide an open interface for easy integration with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, machinery, barcoding, nesting software, and other operational technologies.
The solution enables steel fabricators to enhance productivity, improve collaboration, reduce errors, and optimize project execution through a connected digital ecosystem.
